Professional Research

Since the 1890s, messengers-at-arms in Bath Street, Glasgow, have been involved in – as the old advertisements put it – elucidating mysteries. We are professional researchers, experienced, for example, in identifying and finding lost heirs. Of course, every routine case we handle has the potential to require the detective’s skills: addresses must be checked; addressees must be found. But occasionally there is the need for much more thorough investigations to be made.

No job too small, and none’s too large! might be our motto.

An instruction to research how certain warrants for ejection could safely be executed in particularly challenging circumstances led, in January 2006, to a special team of over 70 people being on duty, in open country over 10 days and nights, under the direction of the principal of this firm, as sheriff officer. It gave rise to the biggest single fee note in our history – over £900,000 – which was promptly paid by the client, on completion of a signal professional success.
